Glitz Africa Fashion Week, a brand extension of Glitz Africa is one of the biggest fashion week events in Africa that is held annually. Glitz Africa Fashion Week (GAFW) is a unique and innovative event focused on raising global awareness to diverse talent, promoting and celebrating African cultures, and bridging the gap between international buyers and African designers.

Glitz Africa Fashion Week will be a multifaceted four day-long event that will include runway shows, exhibitions, industry networking mixers, pop up shops, and more.

The event, scheduled from the 6th to the 9th of November 2014, will link international partners, business leaders, local buyers, agents, editors, celebrities, and industry insiders to the vibrant fashion and art that Africa has to offer.

LAUNCH AT THE GLITZ AFRICA FASHION WEEK 2014

HANDWASHING 101

Hey guys, October 15th is Global Handwashing Day and I bring to you why this day is important and how each one of us can help to reinforce the habit of Handwashing. You can also join the campaign on twitter using #LifebuoyGHD or #HelpAChildReach5 .

Handwashing is very easy to practise and is the most cost-effective strategy to prevent infection, however this simple act has been neglected and the consequences are severe.

There is a clear link between poor hygiene and sanitation and detrimental health outcomes especially in developing countries.

According to the W.H.O., approximately half a million children die every year of diarrheal diseases caused by unsafe water, poor sanitation and unhygienic practices. 

Children right from birth risk infections,illnesses,delayed and reduced cognitive function as a result.

It is estimated that washing hands with soap and water could reduce diarrheal diseases associated deaths by up to 50%.

If everyone routinely washed their hands, a million deaths a year could be prevented.

That single act of Handwashing is a health intervention that can help achieve the Millenium Development goal 4 and 5, that is to reduce child mortality and improve maternal health.

The combined benefit of Handwashing, food hygiene and household hygiene reduce infant diarrhoea by more than one-third.

A large percentage of food borne disease outbreaks are spread by contaminated hands, and appropriate Handwashing can reduce the risk.

Handwashing with soap is advised;

Before eating or handling food.

Before handling babies

After using the toilet

After counting money 

When hands are soiled or obviously dirty

We all have a role to play to bring about improved health, prevent diseases and save lives  by creating awareness at home, at work and on social media about the importance of Handwashing and why it should be a part of our daily lives.

You would be helping a child out there reach the age of 5 .

Hi guys, 

It's been a while,I've been away doing this and that,I'm sure you're doing awesome. Happy to be back finally.

I've been up to a few things, which includes some photoshoots(don't pretend you don't know I'm addicted to taking pictures) 😄😄😄. Thanks to Nana K Duah, the branding boss for the blog's new logo.

I had an amazing time at this year's Chalewote street art festival as well the fashion icon awards.

I'm already excited about glitz Africa fashion week, happening in a few weeks and showcasing will be designers from all over Africa. As usual, I will bring you updates on the highlights of the event. 

I can't wait to see what the designers have up their sleeves for the coming year and the trends likely to be favourites. Bold prints? Bold colours? Black&White? Nude? Floral prints? I'm just as curious as you are.

And YES!!! Our Inspiring women's series is set to roll, with a different twist however.

It feels good to be back, and hopefully, no long breaks again.
